It was also revealed Thursday that former CEO Gene Lee, who retired from that post last year, also now plans to retire as chairman of Darden’s board. Darden also expects to open about 50 new restaurants in this new fiscal year. The company forecasts total sales in its new fiscal year will improve to $11.5 to $11.6 billion, thanks to adding Ruth’s as well as projected same-restaurant sales growth of 2.5% to 3.5%. Ruth’s has 81 company-owned or operated Ruth’s Chris Steak House restaurants and 74 franchised locations worldwide.ĭarden also concluded its fiscal year on May 28, with total sales for the year up 8.9% to $10.5 billion. There was probably a little bit of euphoria in check last year.”ĭarden has just bought another fine-dining brand, finishing its $715 million deal for Winter Park-based Ruth’s Hospitality Group last week. “We think part of this is … a function of last year, similar to the guest count trends we saw last year. “One area we’re seeing a little bit of check management is with alcohol sales, primarily at our higher-end brands,” Cardenas said. … They’re making spending tradeoffs and, as I said before, food away from home is really difficult to give up, if you’re executing.”Ĭardenas and CFO Raj Vennam expected the softness in fine dining to continue in the next quarter and attributed the drop to having to compare it to last year, when business was strong. “Even in a slowing economy, consumers really continue to seek value, and it’s not always about low prices. For the prices, you should expect and receive better.“There is a tension between what people want and what they can afford,” Cardenas said. I'm not sure, but it certainly made it a bad night for us. Disclaimer: this dish does come in a bath of soy sauce perhaps that's the culprit however, it ruined the dish for me. Chilean Sea Bass.so salty, I couldn't eat it. No freshness about this dish could be found. tasted like it just came out of the microwave. Not sure if it was over fried or just old from waiting to be ordered. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir what was delicious. I understand they have music most evenings.another plus. Good news first.there wasn't the long wait as one would expect for such a popular establishment. We dined at Eddie V's previously (on a Saturday night) and thought this would be a good option again. My husband and I decided to do a spontaneous date night and ventured to Tysons Corner. For $200 dinner I was expecting a lot better. I was hoping for a little birthday candle, but we didn't get that, eventhough I mentioned in the beginning again it was my husband’s birthday. We had the bananas foster dessert, which was yummy. My son’s fountain-soda rootbeer was flat and looked like it was watered down! (See photo) Server said it just looked that way :( o.k. I just felt like none of the seafood we had was fresh but could be that it was just our luck that evening. My swordfish steak was “meh”, not so great either. And I agree with the other review, it was dry and not fresh. Unfortunately, that very night they ran out of their bone-in rib eye. We were greeted by our server who was nice. Very nice atmosphere and a lovely restaurant. I made a reservation for a birthday dinner which I noted on Open Table. Our friends recommended them, especially their bone in rib eye and bananas foster dessert. My husband loves steak and so for his birthday, I decided to make a reservation for our small family of three to have dinner at Eddie V’s for the first time.
